Abortion..Choice that kill.

Hye dears..

I'm very sure all of you have noticed there are a lot of abortion cases in Malaysia recently but do you really know how is the abortion process??Now. I want to share a little bit about abortion.Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death.[1] An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced, in humans and other species. In the context of human pregnancies, an abortion induced to preserve the health of the gravida (pregnant female) is termed a therapeutic abortion, while an abortion induced for any other reason is termed an elective abortion. The term abortion most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy, while spontaneous abortions are usually termed miscarriages.
A 10-week-old fetus removed via a therapeutic abortion

Abortion has a low risk of maternal mortality except for abortions performed unsafely, which result in 70,000 deaths and 5 million disabilities per year globally. Abortions are unsafe when performed by persons without the proper skills or outside of a medically safe environment. An estimated 42 million abortions are performed annually with 20 million of those abortions done unsafely around the world. Forty percent of the world's women are able to access therapeutic and elective abortions within gestational limits.
Poor them.

Abortion has a long history and has been induced by various methods including herbal abortifacients, the use of sharpened tools, physical trauma, and other traditional methods. Contemporary medicine utilizes medications and surgical procedures to induce abortion. The legality, prevalence, cultural, and religious views on abortion vary substantially around the world. In many parts of the world there is prominent and divisive public controversy over the ethical and legal issues of abortion. Abortion and abortion-related issues feature prominently in the national politics in many nations, often involving the opposing pro-life and pro-choice worldwide social movements (both self-named). Incidence of abortion has declined worldwide as access to family planning education and contraceptive services has increased.[4]

Can you see the innocent hands there?

For law, at the moment abortion is allowed in Malaysia only on medical grounds if the health of the mother is in jeopardy.

Types of Abortion:
1. Spontaneous abortion or miscarriages - is a type of abortion that occur without medical or other intervention. About 25% of all pregnancies result in miscarriages, women older than 35 or younger than 17 years old and couples who have difficulty in achieving pregnancy; and women who have had at least two miscarriages has a higher chance of experiencing miscarriage. About 90% of miscarriages occur during the first trimester (first three months, or 12 weeks of pregnancy). Some cases of miscarriages happen even before a woman realizes that she is pregnant, and she even may not realize that she has aborted.

Too many innocent babies killed

Symptoms of Miscarriage:
  • A typical 10th week miscarriage is characterized by a very heavy menstrual period. A pregnant woman may experience several days of bleeding and cramps before the contents of the uterus are removed, followed by a short period of bleeding until the lining of the uterus heals.
  • Miscarriage after the 12th week is like a mild version of the labor of during childbirth, with strong contractions that dilate the cervix and expel the fetus.
  • Miscarriages between the 13th and 24th weeks (second trimester) are most often caused by faulty attachment of the placenta to the walls of the uterus or from a weak cervix that dilates too soon.
Medical names of the various stages of actual or possible miscarriages:
  • Threatened abortion is a condition of pregnancy, occurring before the 20thweek of gestation, the patient usually experiences vaginal bleeding with or without some cramps, and the cervix is closed. Bed rest is usually the only treatment needed. In a few cases the symptoms disappear and the rest of the pregnancy is normal.
  • Inevitable abortion is when the bleeding continues and becomes heavy, it usually means that the cervix is dilating and the contents of the uterus are being expelled. Pregnant women will experience lower abdominal cramping and bleeding.
  • Complete abortion is when all the contents are expelled. There is no treatment other than rest is usually needed. All of the tissues that came out should be saved for examination by a doctor to make sure that the abortion is complete. The laboratory examination of the saved tissue may determine the cause of abortion.
  • Incomplete abortion is a name given to abortion where the uterus retains part or all of the placenta. Bleeding may occur because part of the placenta may adhere to the uterine wall and the uterus does not contract to seal the large blood vessels that feed the placenta. The usual treatment is a drug that induces labor by stimulating uterine contractions, a surgical procedure called curettage can also be done to remove the remaining material from the uterus, the goal of this treatment is to prevent prolonged bleeding or infection.
  • Missed abortion - is a case in which an intrauterine pregnancy is present but is no longer developing normally. Before widespread use of ultrasonography, the term missed abortion was applied to pregnancies with no uterine growth over a prolonged period of time, typically 6 weeks after its (fetus) death. A missed abortion is usually indicated by the disappearance of the signs of pregnancy except for the continued absence of menstrual periods. Missed abortions are usually treated by induction of labor by dilation (or dilatation) and curettage (D & C).

2. Induced abortion - this type of abortion uses drugs or instruments to stop the normal course of pregnancy.
Different methods for performing abortions.
  • Menstrual Extraction (endometrial or vacuum aspiration). This method is used for most abortions performed during the first trimester. It is done by suctioning out the lining of the uterus (endometrium) through a thin opening of the undilated cervix. It is a method used after a woman has just missed a period, or anytime up to about the eight week or pregnancy. It can be performed safely in the doctor's office and has a very low rate of mortality.

  • Dilation and Evacuation (D & E) (also called vacuum suction or suction curettage) and Dilation and Curettage (D & C). This method is commonly used for late first trimester or early second trimester abortions. In this method suction is used to remove the fetus and placenta. The cervix is first dilated under local anesthesia using a suction tube that is firm, and a stronger suction is used than in menstrual extraction. Another way of dilating the cervix is the use of a type of dried seaweed, called laminaria, which expands as it absorbs moisture. Some doctors use a hollow, spoon-shaped knife, or curette, to ensure that all the placental tissues are removed by scraping the uterine walls.

If curettes are used throughout the procedure instead of suction, the method is called dilation and curettage (D&C). Before the 12th week of pregnancy, D&E is preferred over D&C because it does not require general anesthesia, causes less discomfort and is less costly. D&C can be used up to the 12thweek of pregnancy. The mortality rate for both D&E and D&C is approximately 3 per 100,000 abortions.

  • Prostaglandin or Saline Administration. This method is done by injecting prostaglandins or saline solution through the uterine wall and into the amniotic sac holding the fetus to induce labor and delivery of a nonviable fetus. This procedure is commonly used for second trimester abortions. Prostaglandinsmay cause nausea, elevated temperatures, and vomiting but are safer than the saline solution. Mortality rate for second trimester abortions performed by this method is approximately 20 per 100,000 abortions.
  • Hysterotomy. This method is similar to caesarian section, the uterus is opened through a small abdominal incision and the fetus is removed. Hysterotomy is usually performed only when other methods have failed repeatedly, it is performed under general anesthesia. It is used between the 12th and the 24th week of pregnancy. This method has the greatest risk of complications out of all the abortion procedures, maternal mortality rate is approximately 200 per 100,000 abortions.

Let them live in this world.

Cod Liver Oil.

Hye dears..
Cod liver oil in capsule.

Do you know what is cod liver oil?Actually Cod liver oil is a nutritional supplement derived from liver of cod fish. It has high levels of the omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, and very high levels of vitamin A and vitamin D. It is widely taken to ease the symptoms of arthritis and for other health benefits. It was once commonly given to children, because the high levels of vitamin D in cod liver oil have been shown to prevent rickets and other symptoms of hypovitaminosis D.
Rickets disease

Cod liver oil was traditionally manufactured by filling a wooden barrel with fresh cod livers and seawater and allowing the mixture to ferment for up to a year before removing the oil.[2][3] Modern cod liver oil is made by cooking the whole cod body tissues of fatty fish during the manufacture of fish meal.

Cod liver oil is widely taken to ease the pain and joint stiffness associated with arthritis, and has also been clinically proven to have a positive effect on heart, bone, as well as helping to nourish skin, hair, and nails.
Cod liver oil and fish oil are similar, but cod liver oil has much higher levels of vitamins A and D. Many adults do not meet the RDA for Vitamin D.
Cod liver oil may be an effective complementary measure for long-term treatment of multiple sclerosis.
One example of cod liver oil brand.

Use of cod liver oil during pregnancy is associated with lower risk of Type I diabetes in the offspring. This effect was found only in mothers taking cod liver oil, not in mothers taking multivitamin supplements. Cod liver oil taken by nursing mothers improves the breast milk by increasing the amount of fatty acids, which promotes brain development, and the amount of vitamin A, which helps prevent infections, but the level of vitamin D is unchanged.
A Norwegian study of more than 68,000 women reported that female cancer patients who took daily cod-liver oil supplements had significantly reduced mortality (25% for all cancers, 45% for lung cancer) compared to women who did not take such supplements.
But, if we consumed a large amount of this vitamin, adverse effect may occured.
Because cod liver oil has a very high level of vitamin A, it is possible to exceed the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin A. Vitamin A accumulates in body fat, and can reach harmful levels sufficient to cause hypervitaminosis A. Pregnant women may want to consider consulting a doctor when taking cod liver oil because of the high amount of natural forms of vitamin A such as retinol. High doses of synthetic vitamin A (retinoids) have been shown to cause birth defects.
Birth defect.

The risks of hypervitaminosis and of exposure to environmental toxins such as mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls, dioxins, and other contaminants, are reduced when purification processes are applied to produce refined fish-oil products, which consequently contain raised levels of omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA.
A high intake of cod liver oil by pregnant women is associated with a nearly fivefold increased risk of gestational hypertension, although this study did not control for mercury, which can be present in harmful amounts in fish and which is another cause of hypertension.
Some urge caution when taking cod liver oil and other fish-based supplements since they may contain elevated levels of toxins such as mercury and PCBs found in fish Some supplement companies regularly test cod liver oil for purity. Consumerlab.com tested 44 fish and cod liver oil supplements and found that all were free of detectable levels of mercury.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Hye dears..
Every married couple wants a baby..

For this post actually I got an idea to write about In Vitro Fertilization.IVF is a process by which egg cells are fertilised by sperm outside the body, in vitro. IVF is a major treatment in infertility when other methods of assisted reproductive technology have failed. The process involves hormonally controlling the ovulatory process, removing oval (eggs) from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a fluid medium. The fertilised egg (zygote) is then transferred to the patient's uterus with the intent to establish a successful pregnancy. The first successful birth of a "test tube baby", Louise Brown, occurred in 1978.
IVF

The term in vitro, from the Latin root meaning in glass, is used, because early biological experiments involving cultivation of tissues outside the living organism from which they came, were carried out in glass containers such as beakers, test tubes, or petri dishes. Today, the term in vitro is used to refer to any biological procedure that is performed outside the organism it would normally be occurring in, to distinguish it from an in vivo procedure, where the tissue remains inside the living organism within which it is normally found. A colloquial term for babies conceived as the result of IVF, "test tube babies", refers to the tube-shaped containers of glass or plastic resin, called test tubes, that are commonly used in chemistry labs and biology labs. However, in vitro fertilisation is usually performed in the shallower containers called Petri dishes. One IVF method, Autologous Endometrial Coculture, is actually performed on organic material, but is still considered in vitro.
Fertilization process

This is the original 'test tube' technique. The most common indication for this procedure is blocked or damaged Fallopian tubes.
IVF is offered for infertility problems which do not respond to conventional medical or surgical therapy. These include damaged fallopian tubes, endometriosis, semen abnormalities, unexplained infertility, or when a combination of factors prevent pregnancy. IVF is a process involving stimulating the development of multiple ova (eggs) which are then retrieved from the ovaries by ultrasound-guided needle puncture.
The eggs are then transferred to the laboratory where they are fertilized with the partner's sperm and are allowed to develop in special culture medium. The embryos that result are then replaced in the uterus where they will hopefully attach and develop further into a successful pregnancy.
Requirements
  • An adequate semen sample.
  • The production of 4 or more oocytes (eggs).
  1. Hormone treatment (superovulation) to ensure the development of several oocytes.
  2. Monitoring of follicular growth.
  3. Induction of ovulation.
  4. Transvaginal aspiration of oocytes, under sedation (intra-venous introduction of drugs for sedation).
  5. The sperm sample is collected approximately 1 hour before the aspiration of the oocytes.
  6. Oocytes are inseminated with the husband's sperm sample.
  7. Embryo development (2-5 days).
  8. Transvaginal transfer (no anaesthetic) of up to 4 embryos.
  9. Pregnancy test (10 to 13 days after transfer).
One of the procedure
For this topic,I've provided a link to show The Process of  IVF.

    Benefits

  1. For the infertile couple, the benefits of IVF are tremendous. No matter the situation, an egg will always unite with a viable sperm cell and be inserted into the woman's body. Procedures such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), assisted hatching, genetic counseling and frozen embryo transfers are all made possible through IVF. Donor sperm and eggs are sometimes used as well, so this is another benefit if the couple is not able to use the man's sperm or the woman's eggs for some reason.

    Misconceptions

  1. Children resulting from IVF treatment often are thought of as "test tube babies." While the embryo may be created in a petri dish, the child grows just like any other, inside the womb. Another common misconception is that IVF is an easy procedure. In reality, it takes months of planning, and the woman must take fertility injections and monitor her cycles closely to ensure that the egg retrieval and transfer are taking place at the proper times.
  2. Warning

The challenge with IVF is implantation. There is no current technology that can be used to implant the embryo into the woman's uterus; the embryo is simply injected into the uterine cavity in hopes that it will implant on its own (assisted hatching can aid in this, however). Another disadvantage to IVF is the cost. One round of treatment can cost over $10,000 as of September 2009, and since there are no guarantees, this can add up very quickly. Lastly, the risk of multiple embryos implanting in the uterus is very high and this can lead to selective termination or at the very least, a high-risk pregnancy that poses a danger to the mother and the babies.

    Cupcakes..Cupcakes..Cupcakes

    Hye dears..
    Nyum.Nyum.

Okay, for this post I just want to share about a light things since my post before all about heavy topic. For this time, i just want to share about my favorite cake..haha that is cupcake..For me cupcakes nowadays was a trend in many occasions such as birthday, wedding, donation and etc.
Cupcakes actually is a small cake designed to serve one person, frequently baked in a small, thin paper or aluminum cup. As with larger cakes, frosting and other cake decorations, such as sprinkles, are common on cupcakes. A standard cupcake uses the same basic ingredients as standard-sized cakes: butter, sugar, eggs, and flour. Nearly any recipe that is suitable for a layer cake can be used to bake cupcakes.
    Cupcake's ingredients..
There a different types of cupcakes to be differentiated. For example decoration in cupcakes for wedding is  more heavy than birthday's cupcake but usually they have same size.I can say that the price of this type of cake is more higher than muffin. This is some example of cupcake based on their decoration..
    i.Wedding cupcake:
    ii.Birthday cupcake:
    iii.merchandise:
So, maybe some of you interested to baking and decorate a cute cupcake. For that purpose, I have provide this video..So, please enjoy..
I think that's all for now..
    So, bye2..

    Botox..

    Assalamualaikum..
    Botox

For this post, I want to share about botox..We always heard about botox injection for cosmetic purpose nowadays but are we actually knows what botox are..
Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is extremely neurotoxic. Popularly known by one of its trade names, Botox or Dysport, it is used for various cosmetic and medical procedures.
    Awwww..

Botox cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).
The cosmetic effect of BTX-A on wrinkles was originally documented by a plastic surgeon from Sacramento, California, Dr. Richard Clark, and published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1989. Canadian husband and wife ophthalmologist and dermatologist physicians Carruthers JD and Carruthers JA were the first to publish a study on BTX-A for the treatment of glabellar frown lines in 1992. Similar effects had reportedly been observed by a number of independent groups (Brin, and the Columbia University group). After formal trials, on April 12, 2002, the FDA announced regulatory approval of botulinum toxin type A (Botox Cosmetic) to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).Subsequently, cosmetic use of botulinum toxin type A has become widespread with many celebrities viewing it as less intrusive and/or artificial than other types of plastic surgery. The results of cosmetic procedures vary but can last up to eight months.
    Spot the differents...

However, the users of botox may face several risk of health problem other than the unsuccessful  result that is sweating, migrain, and cervical dystonia.
    Unsuccessful botox treatment
This video is one of the example how the botox injection for cosmetic purpose procedure.
But, I personally want to remind that this procedure is actually illegal in islam. So, for muslims please don't ever think to do this.
